Writing While Black: Playwrighting 101 Workshop

EVENT: Tuesday, July 10th from 6-9pm @ Cahoots Theatre Creation Studio: 388 Queen Street East. Alicia will serve as workshop leader for this one night only event, hosted by Toronto’s flyest writer’s collective: Writing While Black! Cost: $10 in advance, $15 at the door. For tickets, visit the Eventbrite Page

ABOUT: With a focus on creating compelling dialogue, this event encourages Black writers interested in sharing their stories on the stage.  It’s ideal for those who already have writing experience in other forms but are curious to try a new medium. We will be generating new material on the day, no need to prepare anything in advance. And dinner’s included in the price too, fam. We gotchu.

What you will need however, is a willingness to read aloud. Dialogue is workshopped best when each character has a separate voice. This event will involve small group collaboration (partnered exercises) as well as large group brainstorming. Show up with an open mind and an empty belly. We’ll take care of the rest.
